The Telluride Mountain Club and the Telluride Open Space Commission are reminding users of Bear Creek to share the trail.
REMEMBER THREE RULES OF THUMB:
- Uphill traffic and hikers ALWAYS have the right of way, and downhill users must yield to them
- Alert other users around corners and when approaching them from behind
- Skiers/boarders/bikers should ride on the sides of the trail, to widen it and make more room
Every season there are near-misses, user conflicts and safety issues with downhill vs. uphill traffic, with big potential for collisions and injuries. As recreationalists, we need to always be courteous to other users in this popular area and manage ourselves.
Please enjoy our public lands safely and responsibly, and share our beautiful trails with others.
