Eider up and east (back into town) is now cleared

Eider up and east (back into town) is now cleared of downed trees. Snow piles and mud remain (remember, stay ON the trail through mud and snow). We will tackle Deep Creek west of Eider later this week. Lots of downed trees out there today, too many to count!

🚨 The USFS trail team, two conservation corps c

🚨 The USFS trail team, two conservation corps crews, and TMtC will be working on the rockfall on the Waterline / Mill Creek Trail this week. Please avoid the trail completely or turn around well before the maintenance zone. This project presents a dangerous setting with the steep hillside and ropes/cables that will be used for the rock removal and repositioning. We will update the public again when the project is complete. 🚨

What have we been up to this spring?!
Trails we have cleared of downed trees and other small maintenance issues:
- Galloping Goose from Lawson to Trout Lake: over 20 trees
- Eider to Mill Creek Connector: 10 trees and 2 new benches
- Mill Creek: 4 trees
- Jud Wiebe: 3 trees
- Sunshine/T-35: 3 trees
- Boomerang: 2 trees
- Eider: 6 trees
Projects and trails on our radar for the next few weeks:
- Magic Meadows: trees
- Mill Creek: big rockfall project
We will then start on a bigger trail maintenance project for Sunshine/T-35 that improves drainage, turns, sight lines, and adds a few fun opt-out features.

The Galloping Goose trail has been cleared of down

The Galloping Goose trail has been cleared of downed trees from Trout Lake into town. There are still sections of rockfall and big patches of snow that we will address in the coming weeks.

The Telluride via ferrata still has significant sn

The Telluride via ferrata still has significant snow along the route and snow melting above the route is causing increased rockfall hazard. We are uncertain about the condition of the cables on the western two thirds of the route. Anyone attempting it should consider adopting an “alpine climbing mindset” and bring an ice axe and other necessities.

T-35 / Sunshine Trail and Boomerang are now cleared of downed trees!
Still a bit of snow out there but trails are starting to melt. Don’t forget to stay on the trail in muddy, wet, and snowy sections.

We want the outdoor recreation gear that no longer

We want the outdoor recreation gear that no longer serves you to redistribute to those that don’t have the means to acquire it in our community.
We will be in Carhenge from 10am to 2pm on May 19 & 20 (at the annual recycling event) and will be taking all forms of outdoor recreation gear: bikes, helmets, skis, boots, jackets, shoes, camping items, backpacks, and more.

So many trees we lost count. Eider to Mill Creek Connector and the Galloping Goose from Lawson to Ilium are now clear of downed trees.

Just a few reminders as we head into the weekend a

Just a few reminders as we head into the weekend and beyond.
🚲 Be the green arrow! Stay in the middle of the trail in wet, muddy, or snowy sections.
🥾 If you know an extended section of trail is going to be muddy, wait until it’s dry. Use during muddy conditions causes trail widening, rutting, and maintenance issues.
🎿 Our collection for the outdoor gear drive is next week, May 19 & 20 in Carhenge. Drop off gear you no longer need or use to be distributed to those less fortunate in the community.

Trail maintenance season is underway! The west side of the Wiebe is now clear. We have several trails we’ll be hitting the next few weeks as weather allows.
Remember, if you see a maintenance need on a trail, let us know so we can help address it. If we don’t know, we can’t help fix it. Thanks Telluride!

As Telluride’s trails start to melt this spring,

As Telluride’s trails start to melt this spring, remember basic trail etiquette and practice patience.
🚲 Try not to hike or bike when you know that trails are muddy. Use during muddy times causes trail rutting, widening and maintenance headaches.
🪨 When you come across a muddy or icy section of a trail, please hike, run or bike right through the middle of the muddy section. Sure, we all want to take the inviting (and dry) side trail, but doing that creates serious erosion that leads to more damage and problems.
Be the green arrow and please stay on the trail.

We will be collecting gear on May 19 & 20 at the Carhenge Parking lot in Telluride during the annual trash/recycling event from 10am to 2pm.

Gear will be redistributed for free on June 24th at the Community Fiesta in Telluride Town Park.

We are back for year 2 of our outdoor recreation gear drive!! We will be collecting gear on May 19 & 20 as part of the community trash/recycling event in Carhenge parking lot. Gear will be distributed for free on June 24 at the Community Fiesta in Town Park!
Please bring us your used, no longer needed outdoor gear on May 19 & 20 from 10am to 2pm to Carhenge.
