Let’s face it, we all love gear. Whether you are a climber, a skier, a runner, a hiker, you get the picture… we like new gear. Here is a round-up of our four favorite hot new backcountry ski gear items for next winter as seen at this year’s SIA Snow Show.
The Atomic Backland Boot series takes uphill travel seriously. Boot features to note: heat mold liner, removable tongue, easy ski-walk mode, 98mm last, has insane cuff movement & is super lightweight (the Backland Carbon weighs 1161 grams and has 74 degrees of cuff movement).
The Fisher PROFOIL is making a movement for waterproof skins. Features to note: you’ll be able to glide much faster, PROFOIL crowns provide grip in all types of snow conditions (and weather conditions) and they pack into a very small package. We are a bit skeptical, how will these plastic skins do up Little Wasatch Face?!
The Patagonia dream kit. Patagonia is making it easier than ever to coordinate all your gear. Features to note: Your gear all fits together well (think backpack straps fall just below your jacket pockets), layering just got a whole lot easier and hey… you look great!
The redesigned BCA Float Airbag Packs. BCA’s next generation of airbag packs are simply better backpacks. They have comfort features, back support and the pockets a pack requires for backcountry adventures. The packs have evolved quite a bit from the first generation.
Those are our highlights. We hope you can wait until next winter to get your paws on all the fresh new gear.
