Telluride Trail Work Days

The Telluride Mountain Club is teaming up with the USFS to bring you planned trail work days in Telluride throughout the summer.

Saturday, August 19 Details:

We will be working on the lower section of the Wasatch Trail, from where the Wasatch Trail meets the Bear Creek Trail, up to the bridge on the Wasatch Trail.

Meet: 9:00 AM at the bottom of Bear Creek Trail at the intersection of Pine Street.

Please bring your own snacks, lunch, sunscreen, hat, plenty of water, and work gloves! Volunteers need to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Volunteers need to wear a helmet, if you don’t want to wear the USFS helmet, bring your climbing or mountain bike helmet. See you on Saturday!

Saturday, July 15 Details:

We will be working on the Sunshine (T35) Trail! We will be focusing on brushing (corridor clearing), drainages, and thistle removal.

Meet: 8:30 AM at the lower Sunshine Trailhead (in Ilium) where the Sunshine Trail meets County Road 63L (see map below). We will split into a few groups and hike up the trail to our work location and work our way back down to the trailhead.

Please bring your own snacks, lunch, sunscreen, hat, plenty of water, and work gloves! Volunteers need to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Volunteers need to wear a helmet, if you don’t want to wear the USFS helmet, bring your climbing or mountain bike helmet. See you on Saturday!

Saturday, June 24 Details:

We will be working on the Deep Creek Trail and focusing on creating better drainage between Eider Creek and Mill Creek.

Meet: 8:30 AM at the intersection of Eider Creek Trail and Mill Creek Road (the switchback on Mill Creek Road). We will be leaving the meeting spot promptly at 9:00 AM.

Please carpool to the meeting location, or hike up from the bottom of Mill Creek Road (parking is limited at the switchback). We will be walking/hiking roughly 1.5 miles with trail tools to get to our trail work location. Please bring your own snacks, lunch, sunscreen, hat, and plenty of water!

Volunteers need to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Please bring work gloves if you have them. When you arrive, please sign the volunteer agreement with the USFS.

2017 Summer Trail Work Days:

  • Saturday, June 24
  • Saturday, July 15
  • Saturday, August 19
