It would be helpful to have the Sheriffs Dept and SAR in agreement and in support of the Mountain Clubs efforts.

Here’s an off the cuff idea. First talk to Sheriff Masters and ask what he would need to have in place in order to support the God Hill Access gates. I think a large part of it is he wants to be compensated for the expense of rescues.

Put a box, similar to National Park campground self registration boxes, at each gate. Have hiking/rescue insurance cards available and request the $12 fee be put in an envelope and into the box. If a person has no cash or whatever they can have one for free. That expense to be covered to some level by donations. Have credit card payment available, directions to the mountain club website for later payment, extra payment can be made to support the mountain club. etc.

So everyone is covered by rescue insurance and SAR can be compensated.

    What do you think?

Another suggestion was, in addition to the above, get the ski area to also offer the rescue cards for sale. Possibly at the ticket windows and maybe other locations?

Perhaps the TMC could include local rescue insurance as part of it’s membership benefits? Kind of like the American Alpine Club?
